RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The family of the Richmond Fire Lieutenant killed by gunfire thanksgiving night, spoke out about their incredible loss, Tuesday morning, at the Richmond Fire Department Headquarters.

Lt. Ashley Berry’s father, Waverly Berry, was surrounded by members of the Richmond Fire Department, as he revealed that his daughter shielded her five-year-old son from the bullets. Lt. Berry and her son were standing on Sunnyside Avenue in Hopewell, after celebrating Thanksgiving, when she was shot and killed.

Waverly Berry said Lt. Berry, a mother-of-three, protected her young son from the hail of gunfire that was senselessly fired at them, pushing him to the ground to shield him.

This is so sad: my deepest sympathy goes out to that family, especially her children, who are going to be devastated over this loss. Let's hope that the family rally around those children and give them all the love and support they need.

Something just does not sit right with me in her death. The father is way too accepting and seems just fine as far as grief when his daughter was just murdered a few days ago. She came from a fire fighter family and fightfigthers with that kind of high rank, is more than likely members of the fire firefighters Greek fraternity. A demonic organization. It may sound creepy and I hate to say it , but her getting murdered on Thanksgiving day (a pagan demonic holiday), sounds more like a blood sacrifice than just a random murder.

@Shala Yisrael: I don't know about you guys, but I lost a daughter to suicide a few yrs ago, just because he seems so at ease is a dream state that and it don't mean shit what everybody thinks how we should react. When everybody is gone and he pulls out the baby pictures, graduation pics pics of her in uniform like I did for my late daughter,it hits hard, and every waking day and night we still remember. His will be harder and he has to be strong because he has to raise her kids, my granddaughter was grown fortunately and lived with her dad. People said the same about me when my daughter passed, but trust me it's something you don't know how we feel unless you've been there. So folks no conspiracy theories. She was killed by a no good bastard nigga that needs killing him and his family. Just as my daughter committed suicide for being bipolar, yet so many people tried to say some other shit happened . we know as parents what happened to our kids and we admit to that. so please fols don't add things that aren't there. thanks fam
