Although blond-haired and blue-eyed, Walter Francis White spent his life fighting for the rights of his black heritage. While others “passed” into white America for safety and comfort, Walter “passed” as white to bring justice. He became known as Mr. NAACP, working with the association for over 30 years. He investigated lynchings and race riots around the US, walked the halls of Congress, and sat with presidents. Throughout his lifetime Walter White took a stand for racial equality and the advancement of African-Americans, helping launch the modern Civil Rights Movement.
