Jermaine Funnymaine Johnson's Peaceful Protest Later Turns Violent
The City of Birmingham and Birmingham Civil Rights Institute hosted a rally for peace and justice at Kelly Ingram Park Sunday afternoon.
One of the speakers, comedian Jermaine “FunnyMaine” Johnson, called for demonstrators to tear down the confederate monument in Linn Park during the rally.
Later that day, Johnson along with protesters met in Linn Park to tear down the monument. The protest started out peaceful. Later, in the surrounding streets, things turned violent.
