Iraq rocket attacks: Iran fires missiles at US targets after vow of revenge.
Missile attacks have struck at multiple locations in Iraq where US military personnel are based in revenge for the assassination of Iran's General Qassem Soleimani. Iran has launched dozens of ballistic missiles at US targets throughout Iraq, including Erbil in northern Iraq and the al-Assad air base in the west of the country. While a second wave was confirmed in the last hour and Donald Trump is understood to have gone to the White House Situation Room, but will not be addressing the nation tonight.

Amid the chaos the US president has taken to Twitter to say: "So far, so good!" and confirm that he will issue a statement tomorrow.

He said: "All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far!

"I will be making a statement tomorrow morning."

Iran's Revolutionary Guard has confirmed it is behind the revenge attacks and has warned the US and regional allies against retaliating with Iran reportedly calling the attack Operation Martyr Soleimani.

It is not yet known if there are any deaths or casualties, or how much damage has been done.

Sky News Arabia reported an Iraqi officer has been killed and five other soldiers were wounded, but this has not been confirmed.

CNN is saying Iraqi security officials has said no Iraqi security forces have been injured in the attacks.

The Guard says regional allies will be attacked if their countries are used for retaliation against Iran.

A Guard commander has told a local TV network the missile attacks were the first step and Tehran will not spare Americans.

While Hesamodin Ashna, politician and advisor to Iran President Hassan Rouhani, has said any "adverse military action by the US will be met with an all out war across the region".

ICT Minister of Iran, MJ Azari Jahromi, has tweeted: "Get the hell out of our region!" with the hashtag "HardRevenge".

Iranian state media has reportedly said the IRGC has "readied all of its underground missile depots", according to NBC.

"They are reporting they are fully battle ready," tweeted reporter Ali Arouzi.

Security sources inside Iraq said 30 missiles have been fired at targets all over the country. Two of the missiles aimed at Erbil, in the north, were hit in mid-air by local air defence systems, the Mirror as told.
