LIVE: Police shooting of black man sparks unrest in Philadelphia
Protesters are expected to take to the streets of Philadelphia on Tuesday, October 27, following the shooting of a black man by police the day before.
27-year-old Walter Wallace was shot as officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the Cobbs Creek neighbourhood.
Wallace was allegedly armed with a knife. According to the officers, he was shot several times when he advanced towards them.
The man's father said that his son was on medication as he struggled with mental health issues.
Riots erupted in the city following the incident, leading to looting and vandalising of several stores and one restaurant. Some 30 officers were injured and dozens of protesters were arrested, according to reports.
