Attack against Black German politician and racism in germany fuels protests
In solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement in the US, people in cities across Germany took part in protests against racism and social injustice. In Berlin, protesters formed a human chain around the city. They kept a distance of three meters apart in observation of coronavirus restrictions. Trade unions and religious groups also took part. They were all there to observe the memory of George Floyd. DW was at the protest at the Brandenburg Gate. In Germany, the discussion on discrimination has intensified amid a global wave of anti-racism protests. Many minorities feel they are still being underrepresented, especially in public offices. DW correspondent Emmanuelle Chaze met with Karamba diaby, one of Germany's few black members of parliament. He talked about his personal experience of racism and the changes he'd like to see.
