Clarke Estate community brave ongoing gang-violence to attend memorial service
Gang violence in America is a well known thing but the problem is not soley an american thing. Gang violence is also a problem in several places in the diaspora including the mother continent of Africa where the nation of South Africa has been dealing with local gangs running roughshot across communities. Members of the Clarke Estate community in Elsies River on the Cape Flats have braved ongoing gang-violence to attend a memorial service for four people killed in the area last week. Three children between the ages of 9 and 12 were among those shot dead. Wednesday night, as mourners gathered at the local community hall, shooting continued.
Residents say there's been a surge in violence in the area over the past few weeks.
