Protester gathered outside the South African parliament in Cape Town on Wednesday, to protest the killing of African American George Floyd and local citizen Collins Khosa.

The protest was organised by the South African Black solidarity action. Around 60 people gathered and laid flowers and messages of condolences.

Khosa was allegedly killed by soldiers during a COVID-19 lockdown enforcement patrol in Alexandra township. The officers involved were found not guilty, despite a conflicting post-mortem report stating Khosa had died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Protests and demonstrations have taken place across the world, having begun in the US in reaction to Floyd's death.

Floyd, a Houston native, died in Minneapolis on May 25 after a police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes as he was recorded saying, "I can't breathe" and "Don't kill me."

Four officers involved in the incident have since been fired. The officer who knelt on Floyd's neck was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
